Barack Obama will take the presidential seat at the middle of this month. And as to get best prepared for it, he just spent his holidays in his native Hawaii. The president-elect has now to wait 13 more days until taking over the presidency of the United States and let’s hope this morning’s workout freshened him up until he arrives back to Chicago.

Obama was supposed to arrive in the Windy City on Friday and was scheduled to spend two days at home, before moving to Washington together with his family. His two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, are about to begin classes at Sidwell Friends School and the family will stay at the Hay-Adams Hotel before moving to the White House on January 15.

The newly elected president went to Hawaii together with his wife, Michelle, their two daughters and some friends from Chicago. They spent their vacation at a rented seaside vacation resort, and the Obamas left the place in their black SUV. Hundreds of local residents waved ti leaves as the president was waving back at them.

Obama wasn’t to outgoing in Hawaii. The only time when he left the rented resort was when he went at a Marine Corps base, where he used to do his morning workout. On Thursday, Obama was greeted by 20 onlookers at the gym, with whom he had shaken hands and took pictures.

Malia and Sasha were taken to the Honolulu Zoo and their father stopped for shave ice. The saddest thing about the trip was that the Obamas had to attend a memorial service of the president-elect’s grandmother who had died of cancer at 86 years old, on the eve of the elections.
