Just a
couple of days ago, actress Lindsay Lohan, 22, publicly stated her opinion about
Sarah Palin’s views on gay people and abortion on her MySpace blog, also urging
people to vote for the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee Barack Obama in
the upcoming elections. After labeling Republican John McCain’s running-mate “a
narrow-minded homophobe,” Lohan went on to bash Palin for being against
abortion. The actress uttered her disappointment towards the fact that, despite
all the progress women had made over the years in conquering the right to do
whatever they wanted with their bodies, there were still people who negated this
right. Not to mention that the pro-life belief came from a person in whose
hands the Americans are supposed to put their nation’s future.
At the time
of the virtual attacks on Sarah Palin, both Lindsay and her girlfriend-British
DJ Samantha Ronson-expressed their support for Obama on their blogs. Moreover,
the former offered to host a number of events for young voters, in order to encourage
them to vote for the Democrat. Nevertheless, Barack Obama turned her offer
down, members of his presidential campaign staff stating that Lindsay did not
quite fit the celebrity profile they needed to raise votes.
Illinois Senator Barack Hussein Obama is the
first African American to be chosen to run for president of the United States by a major political party. In
August 28, he officially accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination and
delivered his acceptance speech during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
