Barack Obama is getting more and more support from internationally acclaimed stars, from a variety of domains. His latest supporters include world-famous rockstars Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel.
Bruce Springsteen, nicknamed “The Boss”, is a multiple Grammy winner, who also pocketed an Academy Award and an Emmy Award. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999 and the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2007. Some of his most famous albums include “Born in the U.S.A.” and “Born to Run”.
Billy Joel, nicknamed “The Piano Man” after the name of his first hit song, has six Grammy awards and has sold approximately 150 million albums worldwide. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006. One of his famous touring partners is Elton John. His musical creations were inspired by Ray Charles, for one, but mostly by The Beatles, particularly Paul McCartney.
During a concert held by both Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen, the latter turned away from the crowd and returned on stage with none other than Presidential Candidate Barack Obama, introduced as “the next president of the United States”. Keeping with his humorous nature, Obama told the crowd not to kick back and relish the poll results, as they shouldn’t “underestimate the power of the Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory”.
It seems that Obama is benefiting from support given by a true supergroup, among which Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen were bound to stand out.
