The season premiere of the Saturday Night live was supposed to be a night to remember, with Michael Phelps as a host featuring musical guest Lil' Wayne and a special appearance from Senator Barack Obama, an appearance that will never happen.
Although being on SNL may cause a popularity boost and is generally considered a good thing, proving one has sense of humor and may resist any kind of comedic attack, the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party had to postpone his appearance, due to Hurricane Ike, which has ravaged Texas' Gulf Coast.
Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki explained Obama’s decision in a statement for the Associated Press: "In light of the unfolding crisis in Texas, Senator Obama has decided it is no longer appropriate to appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow evening."
He also cancelled other public appearances and chose to spend the weekend at home rather than campaigning in these hard times. His runningmate, Joe Biden, has also scaled back all of his campaign events until the storm passes.
Apparently, after
he had cancelled, producer Lorne Michaels called Tina Fey to
invite her back to the show in the role of Sarah Palin.
The main characters of the show will be Hammond and Fred Armisen, which are the cast members interpreting the candidates.
These
two mimic maestros will study every gesture of Sen. Barack Obama and
Sen. John McCain during their election battle and the campaign trail.
