It seems that actor Christian Bale’s tantrum, which he threw on the set for “Terminator Salvation” and was rife with profanities, was not considered such a big deal by the crew that had to sit and listen to the star yell at everybody, threaten and swear.
Bruce Franklin, assistant director and associate producer on the film, stated that since Bale was a methodical actor, his tirade against cinematographer Shane Hurlbut had been merely a result of his having been so caught up in his role at the time and simply in the heat of the moment.
The actor who portrayed Batman in Christopher Nolan’s „The Dark Knight” alongside late actor Heath Ledger in the role of the Joker started verbally lashing out at Hurlbut because he had accidentally stepped into his line of sight while following Bale’s co-star in „Terminator Salvation” Bryce Dallas Howard.
Even though Bale threatened to leave the set and return only if the cinematographer was to be fired, Hurlbut kept his job, while the actor further lost his temper and started screaming that he would trash his lights if he screwed up his scene again.
Franklin said that Bale was under a lot of pressure due to a hectic promotion schedule for „The Dark Knight,” adding that the crew, including the cinematographer, went on to shoot for another seven hours after the incident.
Christian Bale’s tantrum was recently revealed to the public along with the release of an audio clip lasting three minutes during which the actor can be heard throwing profanities everybody’s way.
