Babies Seem to Be More Appealing than “SNL”

It seems that the “Saturday Night Live” female creators and hosts get inspired (or not) all of a sudden and decide to have babies. Thus, they dump the show leaving everybody wondering whether their departure is for good or if they plan on coming back at some point.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made a wonderful duo on Saturday’s 34th season premiere of the late-night NBC program, reminding viewers of the times when they co-anchored “Weekend Update.” However, Tina Fey’s performance during last week’s show was only a guest appearance and, what’s more, Amy Poehler expressed her wish to leave “Saturday Night Live” very soon.

Can “Saturday Night Live” really handle it?

The two writers and comediennes helped this season’s debut become the most watched “SNL” episode since December 17, 2002, when vice president Al Gore was the guest host and U.S. rock band Phish was the musical guest. Furthermore, Saturday’s season premiere was the top-rated “SNL” season debut since September 29, 2001.

The show was fantastic, as Tina Fey, who is constantly associated with Gov. Sarah Palin because she looks a lot like the Republican vice presidential candidate, filled the shoes of the female politician and Amy Poehler impersonated Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

They delivered a so-called “nonpartisan message” parodying various awkward moments the two renowned female figures have gone through.

Tina Fey took her maternity leave 3 years ago and, after giving birth to her daughter Alice, she reprised her “SNL” role only to leave it for good when the season was over.

Amy Poehler made public her decision to leave the NBC program in the new issue of Men’s Vogue. “It’s gonna be really hard - Boyz II Men hard - to say goodbye to yesterday,” Amy Poehler said, adding a bit of irony to the sad news.“‘SNL’ was dangerous, late-night, last-minute, and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.”

But what if you become a drug addict? Time will tell though.
