Auspicious: Kenny Chesney's Numerous Country Nominations

Country singer Kenny Chesney received a whopping eleven nominations for the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year for the fourth consecutive time.

Kenny Chesney’s star is shining bright at the Academy of Country Music Awards this year. He is leading the nominations, with nods for Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist, as well as Song and Video of the Year for “Don’t Blink.”

He received another two nominations in the Album of the Year category for singing and producing “Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates;” two more for single Record of the Year for singing and producing “Don't Blink;” and another two for singing and producing “Shiftwork” in the Vocal Event of the Year category.

Should the 39-year-old singer-songwriter receive the entertainer of the year title, it would be his fourth consecutive win.

Chesney’s “Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates” was released in September 2007 to great success, both critically and commercially. It made its debut on the Billboard 200 at No. 3.

Second-best at Tuesday’s nomination announcement was Rodney Atkins, who received six nods of his own, including for Top Male Vocalist, Song and Video of the Year for “Watching You” and Album of the Year for “If You're Going through Hell.”

Brad Paisley, Big & Rich and Sugarland each received four nominations.

Paisley is vying with Chesney and Atkins in the Top Male Vocalist category and has also been nominated for Entertainer of the Year. His “5th Gear” earned him an Album of the Year nod, while “Online” received a nomination for Video of the Year.

Big & Rich and Sugarland are competing against each other in all four nominated categories: Top Vocal Duo, Single Record, Song and Video of the Year.

The nominations were announced Tuesday morning by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood on CBS’ Early Show via satellite from Nashville. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite entertainer in the respective category, for the first time ever.

The 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards take place in Las Vegas on May 18. It airs live on CBS.
