Tuesday, one person was killed and five others suffered
injuries in a car accident which happened on South Havana Street in Aurora. According to TheDenverChannel.com,
police said that two cars crashed at an intersection.
Authorities said that a 1993 Honda Accord, which was near East Florida Avenue
and heading southbound, crashed into a 2000 Toyota Corolla, which was heading northbound.
The Toyota
turned left in front of the Honda. The Toyota
was broadsided by the Honda, resulting with the death of a female. The Honda
was carrying three males and the Toyota
had three females. The two women and three men were injured.
Their identities have not been made public.
Lt. John Sopranuk said that the accident happened at the
intersection of South Havana
Street and East Florida Avenue, around 9 p.m. Sopranuk
said that both cars had the green light and the investigators would try to
figure out if speed or alcohol were the cause.
“The investigators have not ruled out speed or alcohol as
potential causal factors in the accident,” said Sopranuk, according to TheDenverChannel.com.
The victims were transported to a hospital. Police said that
the investigation would go on for weeks, because they would have to interrogate
witnesses and recreate the accident.
