Arsenal and Manchester Cruise in Champions League

Arsenal London continued their winning streak by equalizing the highest score-ever in the Champions League on Tuesday as they hammered, or better said gunned, Slavia Prague 7-0 on Emirates Stadium.

This was the Gunners’ third win in a row in the Group H on their path to the knockout stage of the competition. In the other match of the group, Sevilla had a two goal advantage against Steaua Bucharest after just 20 minutes of the game. Frederic Kanoute and Luis Fabiano were the scorers. Steaua pulled one back through Ovidiu Petre, but it eventually ended 2-1 for the Spaniards.

Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott each scored twice for Arsenal and Alexander Hleb, Nicklas Bendtner and an own goal from David Hubacek gave the Gunners the much deserved win.

After three games played in the group stage, Arsenal have the top spot with nine points, three more than Sevilla, while Slavia Prague have three. Steaua still have to win a point.

The other Premiership side playing on Tuesday in the Champions League, Manchester United also won. The Red Devils defeated Dinamo Kiev on their home court 4-2 in their Group F game.

The English sides seem to have developed a tendency to score very early in the game. Man United were also 2-0 up after 18 minutes with Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney scoring the goals. Kiev pulled one back through Diogo Rincon in the 34th minute, but with four minutes left of the first half, Cristiano Ronaldo headed the third goal. The Portuguese scored his second in the 68th minute.

"Away games are always difficult and it was certainly not the easiest of matches. I am scoring a lot of goals and I am enjoying my game and enjoying playing with Carlos Tevez upfront. At the beginning of the season we could not score, now we can’t stop scoring," said Rooney, who is turning 22 on Wednesday.

Manchester leads the group with nine points. AS Roma, who beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in Italy have six points. The loss leaves Lisbon on three points, while Dinamo Kiev have none.
