Grand Theft Auto IV is out, it’s
time to relax and play… or at least try, since the game is stuck! After months
of waiting for the release, and the endless minutes it took fans to get from
the store to their house, the game crashed before it started! Users complained
of crash bugs on forums such as GameSpot, neoGAF or Xbox.com on both versions
of the game (PS3 and Xbox).
Considering the extra months
Rockstar took to “perfect” the game, it’s rather strange they reacted with total
silence to these issues, as they refused to comment the situation. The freezing
up problem seems to appear either on the opening scene of the game (when many
complained the image was stuck, while sound continued to play) or upon exiting
the multiplayer mode.
Rockstar refused to comment,
however, Kotaku
reported that according to a Rockstar support representative, the problem
affects the 60 GB version of the PS3, although Xbox 360 seems to have the same
problem, but they are still working on solving it. Unfortunately, it
is hard to tell how long it’s going to take them to figure out a way out of
this mess.
“I feel terrible about this,”
the support representative said, but that won’t keep the disappointed buyers
happy. Some of them chose to exchange their copy of the game for a new one, but
that’s not a solution, but rather a question of luck: what are the chances for
the game to work this time?... We just have to wait for Rockstar to work its
magic now.
