Apple launched a new service. It is called iTunes Pass and it gives fans access to the future content of their favorite bands or singers.
The first iTunes Pass grants access to the content released by Depeche Mode. For $19 fans can get the band’s upcoming ‘Sounds of the Universe’ album, a new single called ‘Wrong,’ and a club remix of the new track ‘Oh Well.’ They will also soon have access to more singles, remixes and videos from the 1980s Britpop band.
The content, which is DRM free, is delivered in 256kbps AAC iTunes Plus format and will be downloaded through iTunes. The iTunes Pass, which seems more like a sort of RSS feed, covers fifteen weeks for the price of $19 per artist.
In a statement regarding the launch the new Apple service, the company’s Vice President Eddy Cue underlined the fact that iTunes Pass is a very good way for artists to give exclusive music and video to the fans and an even greater way for fans to stay in touch with their favorite artists.
Depeche Mode didn’t let the event go unnoticed and they also posted some comments on their Web page saying that, the fans who sing up starting today for an iTunes Pass will get the alternative/dance pioneers' new single, "Wrong," the Black Light Odyssey Dub Remix of the new track "Oh Well" as well as the new album on its street date.
