Recently, Web metrics service Net Applications revealed that on Christmas Day, traffic from Apple Incorporated’s iPod Touch’s users had registered a significant increase, with the gadget’s browser market share having jumped to 0.21 percent, four times higher that in mid-December.
Moreover, it remained around the same percentage for the following days, too, with an average of 0.16%.
As for Apple’s iPhone, it has also had a very good Christmas, its browser share having reached 0.69 percent on December 25, from 0.36% to 0.52% at the middle of the last month of this year.
Apart from this growth in browser market share, the iPod Touch has also had a great holiday season in terms of units sold, having been the top-selling MP3 player at Amazon.
Furthermore, the iPod Touch 2G was the first, second, and fifth best seller in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB sizes, respectively, according to data released by the aforementioned online retailer.
Other gadgets of the iPod line managed to render Apple to score the top 17 spots of Amazon’s MP3 player category, while their only rival was the 120GB Zune that ranked eighth on that list.
Where Amazon’s entire electronics category was concerned, the 8GB and 16GB iPod Touch were featured on the third and fourth bestselling positions, behind the number one Kindle and the runner-up Canon PowerShot A590IS.
App Store statistics showed that the number of iPhones sold doubled from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day, with 19,520 units having been purchased on December 24 and 38,927 the following day.
