ABC announced last weekend that 59-year-old computer programmer Steve Wozniak, who is best known for co-founding company Apple Inc., will be a contestant on the show Dancing With the Stars. He is going to compete against 12 other contestants - singers, actors and athletes - in the show's eighth season, which is scheduled to begin on March 9.
After starting Apple more than three decades ago, he quit working full time for the company in the 1980’s and focused on various other projects, continuing to receive a monthly paycheck. Last week, he announced that he will be data storage start-up FusionIO’s new chief scientist.
The season’s stars include singer and composer Jewel, rapper Lil’ Kim, Jackass’ Steve-O, actress Denise Richards, country singer Chuck Wicks, Belinda Carlisle of the Go – Go’s and former footballer Lawrence Taylor.
The question now is if Wozniak really thought this through, because the training for the show is considered very demanding and also it is clear that people usually do not want to go on TV and make a fool of themselves – this is exactly why some believe that he might have prepared a few surprises, getting ready for the show with private dancing lessons. Whatever the case might be, people are expected to tune in to watch the show, which even though will not feature any of today’s big stars, is expected to be rather entertaining.
Over the past eight years, Dancing With the Stars was received with great enthusiasm by the celebrities taking part in the show and the viewers all across the country.
