There are a lot of reports these days about Apple’s work on completing its new Mac OS X 10.6. According to several articles surfaced on the Web, Show Leopard will borrow some of the iPhone’s features and tools – for now, the ones mentioned are the multi touch technology and Geo-location.
Such a decision should not come as a surprise if it will be confirmed, as the two operating systems are based o the same codes and library foundations, which means that the work would not be very difficult and the popular features would bring a significant boost to the system’s appeal.
The multi touch technology would surely set apart Apple’s computers from the competition, providing users with unique interfaces that would game plays and other consumer uses different and significantly easier.
The new system was officially announced back in 2008 at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference held in San Francisco. At the time, the company’s CEO Steve Jobs explained that the development of the new system will be focused on performance and security and that users should not expect any significant innovative features from this release. So far, the announcement appears to be correct, as there have been no reports about new features. The company decided to take the development process in this direction, as it considers that providing its user base with a fast and secure system is just as important, or even more important, than developing new technologies, services and features.
The new system is expected this year, but the date is uncertain at this point. Some claim that the release will take place as early as March.
