Apple Inc has announced its plans to host a special media event to give a preview of the new iPhone OS 3.0. The event is scheduled on March 17 at the company’s Cupertino Town Hall at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time and Apple invited the media.
Most market analysts expect Apple to unveil much-requested features that will be introduced in the iPhone 3.0 OS. According to a Reuters report, the event will include a “sneak peek” at the version 3.0 of the iPhone OS and data on the new software developers kit.
Software developers and iPhone users alike are waiting for this event hoping Apple has taken their requests - such as introducing the ability to cut and paste or to send multimedia text messages – into account and introduced them in the new OS.
One of the longest-running requests is the push notification, which enables apps to receive information from Apple servers even while they're not actively running. Another highly-requested feature is Adobe Flash support, a big absence which has irritated iPhone users so far.
A considerable number of iPhone users have asked Apple to enhance the smartphone’s Bluetooth functionality so they can perform tasks like file-sharing or wireless keyboard connecting. Many developers and iPhone users are confident that Apple will introduce into the new OS the background processing feature, although the company warned them that this could hurt the phone’s performance.
Another feature that interests many users is video conferencing and this feature would definitely be a very big improvement for the iPhone. Let’s not forget the global search feature that would enable users to carry out a universal search from the home screen of the device.
There are many other features and improvements requested by iPhone users. The list could go on, but until March 17 let the speculation go on.
