The discussions on Steve Jobs’ health appear to keep on going, as the interest on the company’s future activities reaches new highs. Aside from the worries raised by Jobs’ medical state, there are many concerns on the board of executives’ ability to successfully complete the demanding task.
Steve Jobs had to select the ones that will handle the company over the next five months, while he will be focused on getting better, and he believes that their experience and character will get Apple through this phase. The day to day operations will be handled by Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook.
The company’s shareholders are the ones who appear to be worried about this turn of events. The fact is that the share’s price has shown in the past a close connection to the CEO’s actions, rising on good news about his health and falling each time a new rumor surfaced. The explanation for this rather strange dependance is that Apple’s products have been developed under Jobs’ direct guidance, as he presented the engineers with his vision and demanded them to come up with new devices that will fit that exact concept, and that is why Apple’s identity is so closely connected to Jobs’.
Another worry, related to the above mentioned aspect, is whether the company will be able to release new products, with the same utility and appeal as before, without Apple’s main leader. This should not be considered a true problem, as there are certainly several projects already under way, and in order to come up with ideas and approve projects, Steve Jobs does not have to be at his desk.
