As you might already guessed, Apple’s announcement that its CEO, the famous Steve Jobs, won’t attend at the next year Macworld has send down Apple's stock with 6.6% on Wednesday.
As you already know, Apple has decided to withdraw from Macworld Expo as well starting with 2010. This means that the next January event will be the last for Apple.
But while Apple’s decision to back down from an event is quite understandable, the fact that Steve Jobs won’t take the stage for his usual speech has quickly become the subject of speculations and rumors.
While there are a lot of voices which are claiming that Jobs, a pancreatic cancer survivor, is sick again, Apple didn’t release any details regarding his health.
However, this isn’t the first time this year when the rumors about Jobs’ health have sent down the company’s stock. There are other opinions that the main reason for Apple’s withdrawal is unrelated to Steve Jobs problem, but instead the Cupertiono-based company doesn’t want to be tied to a certain event to announce its products or future plans.
In January instead of Steve Jobs, Philip Schiller will try to wow the Apple fans.Philip Schiller is Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing and reports to Apple’s CEO. Schiller is a member of Apple’s Executive Team and is responsible for the company’s Product Marketing, Developer Relations, and Business Marketing programs.
Since rejoining Apple in April 1997, Schiller has helped the company return to its role as a technology innovator, delivering breakthrough products such as the iMac, MacBook, Airport, Xserve, Mac OS X, Safari, AppleTV, iPod and iPhone.
Schiller has over twenty-four years of marketing and management experience including seventeen years at Apple in various marketing management positions. Prior to Apple, Schiller served as Vice President of Product Marketing at Macromedia, Inc. of San Francisco, CA. As you can see, Philip Schiller has an impressive resume, but will he be able to fill in the place left open by Jobs at Macworld?
