Apple Safari 4 - 'the World’s Fastest Browser'

Safari is beginning to rise up to the reputation of its creator, Apple. The new version of the Web browser, Safari 4, has received favorable reviews all over the blogosphere since it was released earlier this week.

The Cupertino staff described it “the world’s fastest browser,” and they were right to do so.  Apple Safari 4 surfs through pages that make heavy use of Javascript at very high speeds.

It doesn’t require much from your PC or Mac (yes, it runs on both). All you need on your PC to run the Safari 4 is Microsoft Windows XP or Vista, 500MHz Pentium class processor or better and 256 MB of RAM. You may also want to get the Direct X 9.0 video card with 64 MB of video RAM so you won’t encounter any problems when using the Cover Flow functionality and Top Sites.

Another detail quickly noticeable at the Safari 4 is the fact that it resembles Google Chrome when it comes to design and feel. Not surprising, the ideas of Web browsers interface have often been borrowed from the competition.

The Safari is quite catchy first of all because it’s fast. After 20 minutes of surfing the Web with the Apple Web browser, I’m already considering using it instead of Mozilla Firefox. Just as Google Chrome, the Safari 4 has a minimalist approach to its user interface, while the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox bulky and busy look is in high contrast.

The Safari has minimized as much as possible the menus and toolbars and focused more on Web page contents. The opened pages are displayed in tabs above the address bar and a separate Google search box is available to the right of the address bar.

There are some differences between Safari 4 and Google Chrome and I believe they are all in Safari’s advantage. The Apple Web browser is a bit more advanced in some functions such as bookmark management.

So if you are looking for a change in the way you surf the Web, try the Safari 4.
