Apple New Event Set For As Soon As Next Week

Apple has sent out invitations to the journalists for a press conference on October 14, where the company says it will launch new notebook PCs. "The spotlight turns to notebooks,” according to the invitation. The laptop-related event will take place in Cupertino, CA, on Apple's main corporate campus, and it will start at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Unfortunately there is little to be known about the actual event.

Like it has happened before, it is likely that the announcement should hold a complete revision to the MacBook line, fully-integrating aluminum casing, and the introduction of an extremely economically efficient model below $1,000.

The event comes just over a month from when the company rolled out new iPods during the “Let’s rock” event.

The launch appears to confirm rumors of new MacBooks, including possibly the so-called "Brick," where Apple's manufacturers would use lasers to carve the notebook from a single block of aluminum. This may finally add some stability to Apple’s light cases used before.

There have been quite a few customers who had complained about the cracks on the MacBooks bottom case after weeks or months of careful use due to the poor quality of the plastic and over-tightening of those screws.

The fifth and most recent update to the MacBook line occurred on February 26, 2008. It uses the Intel GM965 chipset, with Intel's X3100 integrated graphics on an 800 MHz system bus.

Sites ranging from cNet.com and AppleInsider.com to various news sites have also claimed that MacBook updates are imminent.
