Apple’s ultimate gadget, the 3G iPhone is selling like hot
cakes, forcing the Cupertino-based company to demand the increased of the
production.
TechCrunch
claims that Apple has asked Foxconn, the Taiwanese company which produces the
3G iPhone, to increase to production to 800,000 units a week.
It seems like Apple is getting ready to match and surpass
its initial milestone of 10 million iPhones sold until the end of the year.
Also, the demand to increase the production could be a sign
that Apple is preparing to conquer new markets. There were various rumors about
the talks between Apple and China Mobile. However, no concrete deal has been announced so far, despite positive signs from both parties.
However in case the makers of iPhone will manage to break into
the Chinese market, the sales of the 3G iPhone could sky rocket.
Last month, the researchers from iSuppli that Apple spends $173 Bill Of Materials for each 3G iPhone. While using a new design, the 3G iPhone y represents a refinement of the
original iPhone 2G,
“The addition of 3G wireless capability represents an evolutionary design step
for the iPhone, not a revolutionary one,” said Andrew Rassweiler, teardown
services manager and principal analyst at iSuppli.
The 8Gbyte of 3G iPhone is
sold by AT&T with $199.
