Although “Star Trek XI” is to be
released sometime in 2008, the roles for the new movie are already cast. Actors
Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, for example, have been already announced for the
role of Spock in the upcoming new “Star Trek” feature. And recently, another
actor has been announced as being in negations with the creators of the movie.
Surprisingly or not the new actor
that is to join the cast for “Star Trek XI” is the young actor Anton Yelchin.
He will replace Walter Koenig as navigator Pavel Chekov. Anton Yelchin is only
18 years old and he is actually Russian. He has starred till now in such movies
as “Hearts in Atlantis”, “House of D” and also “Alpha Dog”, where his character
was eventually killed by Justin Timberlake’s character’s gang. He will also be
on screens as the title character in Jon Poll’s “Charlie Bartlett”, which has
been recently changed its release date from summer to the 7th of
November.
Anton Yelchin was born in Russian
and he is the child of two skaters. Although he has not appeared in so many
movies, his role in “Star Trek XI” could bring a little teen idol flavor into
the new movie.
J.J. Abrams, the director of
“Star Trek XI” is expected to cast other important actors for the new Paramount movie. Variety has reported that the casting
for the rest of the crew is underway in London
and New York.
