Another singer charged with driving under the influence and
speeding: Young Jeezy, who apparently is a multi-platinum-selling artist for
whom driving laws are too complicated to remember.
I guess I’m not the only one completely bored (or should I
say annoyed?) by these celebrities who keep driving recklessly under the
influence… I mean, really, there’s no day without such news. Is their life so messed
up and difficult they just can’t stop drinking, not even when driving? Or they
just think fame is above the law? Like actress Tatum O’Neal, who, when police
busted her while buying drugs, asked: “Do you know who I am?”
I suppose she had no idea that who you are is not too
relevant in such situations…
So this time it was this rapper Young Jeezy, who was
arrested after he was pulled over by police on an Atlanta highway early
Wednesday.
The singer, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, was stopped
about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 85, police department spokesman Officer James Polite
said, according to The Associated Press.
The police did not say how fast Jenkins was driving, but
they noted the car, a Corvette, did not have a license plate.
Jenkins was charged with speeding, driving with no proof of
insurance or license plate, having an open container, reckless driving and
driving impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The artist was eventually released from the Atlanta City
Detention Center a few hours after the arrest, on a $4,100 bond. He is
scheduled to appear in court July 17.
This was the rapper’s third arrest. He was also arrested in
2006, following a shooting incident, and last year, for disorderly conduct in a
club.
