Security guards usually help Brad Pitt have some breathing
space from the ever-present paparazzi but Monday night was all around
breathless for the actor. He just called it “another day in the life” to People
magazine.
Brad Pitt attended yet another interesting screening of one
of his movies. In Los Angeles
to promote his upcoming film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Pitt appeared
to receive some extra attention from unexpected quarters: a bodyguard. The star
and the guard were photographed standing very close to each other, with the
security guard holding tight onto Pitt, ostensibly protecting him from
over-zealous paparazzi.
The actor explained in a statement that it had not been out
of the ordinary for him. He described the paparazzi present at the event at the
Bruin Theater in Westwood as “exceptionally more aggressive than usual,” going
as far as breaking through a security barrier and into a private holding area
but said it “ultimately was just another day in the life.”
Being mobbed by paparazzi yelling out your name, blinding
you with their flashlights and doing their best to come as close as possible
and touch you must be habitual for Brad Pitt.
He and his family – partner Angelina Jolie and six children,
including three-month-old twins – hardly can make a move without the constant
company of some hardworking shutterbugs or of passionate fans. Just two
eloquent examples:
Last year while attending the Venice Film Festival, where he
received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his performance in “The Assassination
of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” one female fan leapt out in front of
him on the red carpet and hanged on for dear life.
Earlier this year, when Pitt and Jolie had retreated with
their newborn twins and the rest of the brood at the Chateau Miraval in France,
paparazzi wearing camouflage gear broke onto the private estate and were
arrested. Pitt’s lawyers had previously threatened to take to court anyone who
published recently – and surreptitiously - taken photographs of the actor’s
family.
