Could a guy ask for more than a good-looking, famous girlfriend who also pays his thousands of dollars a month apartment rent? I don’t think so. Thus, Rafaello Follieri might as well shed tears for the fact that Anne Hathaway broke up with him. And because he’s behind bars, of course.

According to the new issue of “Vanity Fair,” out on newsstands, Anne Hathaway paid her boyfriend’s $37,000-a-month rent for four months at his New York apartment before the couple split up in June.

A source told the magazine that the “Get Smart” star broke up with the man she had been dating for almost four years over the phone: “You were the love of my life. I’ll always love you. You know that, baby,” the 25-year-old actress reportedly told Rafaello Follieri.

In addition to this, the 29-year-old businessman was allegedly arrested by federal investigators just six hours after the phone call. He has been charged with 12 counts of federal wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering and is due to remain behind bars until he can post $12 million bail.

Anne Hathaway’s father, Herry, reportedly hired a private investigator in 2005 to follow the Italian businessman, as he was concerned about his daughter’s relationship with Rafaello Follieri.

They say time makes us wiser. I sure hope Anne Hathaway learned her lesson and will avoid noble-nosed guys who can’t afford to pay their own rents.
