The Jolie-Pitt family is ready to welcome a new member: Pax Thien, a 3-year-old Vietnamese boy.
Angelina Jolie traveled to the Tam Binh orphanage, on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City today, where she and little Pax met as mother and son. With the actress was Maddox, her 5-year-old adopted Cambodian son.
Angelina and Maddox were greeted by two dozen children dressed in blue, pink and yellow “ao dai” traditional dress at the orphanage. The actress then went to the Department of Justice in Ho Chi Minh City, where she took part in a ceremony granting her official possession of the child.
Angelina and Brad first met Pax last November, when they visited the orphanage on Thanksgiving and handed out toys to the children. The Hollywood actress filed the adoption papers in March as the sole guardian.
She and Brad are not married and Vietnamese law does not permit unmarried couples to adopt, however single parents are allowed.
Little Pax has been living at the orphanage since 2003, when he was abandoned there. His parents have not been found. The child was registered as Pham Quang Sang at the institution, but according to officials, he has now been renamed Pax Thien Jolie.
Pax means “peace” in Latin, while Thien stands for “sky” in Vietnamese. The adoption will be final once US consular and embassy officials give approval and a passport is issued for Pax.
Angelina and Brad Pitt have been a couple since 2005. The actress adopted her first child, Cambodian-born Maddox, in 2002. In July, she adopted Zahara, born in Ethiopia, who is now 2.
Brad adopted both children and their family name is currently Jolie-Pitt. In May 2006 Angelina gave birth to her and Brad’s first natural child, Shiloh, in Namibia. Pax is the fourth child in a beautifully international family.
The Jolie-Pitt household has relocated to New Orleans, away from chaotic Hollywood. “We love it there. The kids are going to go to school there. We're really looking forward to it,” Angelina told US Weekly in January.
The beautiful mother also seems dedicated to her ideal of a rainbow family. “I want to create a rainbow family,” Angelina has said. “That's children of different religions and cultures from different countries. I believe I'm meant to find my children in the world and not necessarily have them genetically.”
