Angelina Jolie admitted that she and Brad Pitt have done everything backwards and that sooner or later they will tie the knot. The 33-year-old actress said that her children are asking why she and Pitt aren’t married like Ogre Shrek and Princes Fiona are, Us Magazine reported.

"When we first met I already had a child," Jolie said.

"We didn't live together and we adopted Zahara. Usually people fall in love and everything revolves around people getting married. Children are an afterthought."

Jolie, a mother of three-month-old twins, a biological two-year-old daughter and three adopted children with Pitt, said that one day they might get married, but insisted that she doesn’t want to rush things despite the growing pressure from her children.

“You know, they [the children] see films and start asking questions. Such as, 'Why are Shrek and his love Fiona married and you're not?' " Jolie told Italian Vanity Fair for its new issue.

Jolie met Pitt on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in 2005. Pitt was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston, but he broke up with her and since then it was all about Angelina. They have six children together: Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, and Zahara, 3, Shiloh, 2, and newborn twins, Knox and Vivienne.

Joile-Pitt once said that they will not get married until same-sex marriages are legalized across the United States.

"Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," Brad Pitt said in the past.
