This week, there will be less talk of Apple’s iPhone, and
more talk of Google’s Android debut, HTC Dream, which according to most
speculations, is far from being just another failed iPhone cloning attempt.
HTC Dream, although we clearly lack the details, promises to
be the true iPhone challenger that everyone’s been waiting for, sort of like
the miracle needed to light up the competition (although there’s been no buzz
like the iPhone buzz…until now).
On September 23, we expect to see a powerful combination of
Google ideas, T-Mobile offers and HTC technology to revamp competition on
smartphone market, and give customers more options.
After taking a look at some leaked images of what appears to
be HTC Dream, it may look a bit rough, not as thin or sleek as the iPhone, but
probably with much more functionality and flexibility, and if we think about
it, a phone needs much more than just looks to appeal to users these days.
Google has come up with a set of ideas meant to get Apple
into trouble, if we think of the support they promised for free applications. As
we all know, Apple’s been marketing its App Store together with the iPhone 3G,
but there’s been a lot of controversy on the apps they allow on the App Stores,
and the prices of some of them (how can we forget about the $1,000 app “I Am
Rich”…).
The Android devices are expected to become available for
purchase in October, for approximately $200 (Google promised more details are
on the way).
