An iPod Nano Caught On Fire In A Man’s Pants

Certainly you’ve heard about the notebooks from Dell or Lenovo that had the “bad habit” of catching fire unexpectedly and without any previous warning. And as a problem never comes alone, such kind of incidents took place in the most inappropriate places ever: at conferences or at airports. Anyway, it’s not as if there would be a time and place appropriate for your notebook battery to catch fire.

However it seems that this “disease” which determined in the last two years the recall of millions laptop batteries has recently extended to iPod nano.

According to media reports Dany Williams, an employee of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, has suffered a very unpleasant incident. His two years old iPod nano suddenly caught fire while it was sitting in his pants pocket.

As the local newspapers report, luckily Dany Williams wasn’t hurt during the fire, thanks to some pieces of paper that were in the same pocket. So Williams ended only with a serious fright and his iPod turned into ashes.

"I'm still kind of freaked out that only after a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket. If TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist," he said.

The media found out his story after his mother, Elaine Williams told everything to WSBTV.

Apple refrained from making official statements, but immediately offered to send Williams another iPod nano.

Even though the incident that involved Dany Williams will prove just an unfortunate case, maybe Apple should take into consideration to initiate a recall program.

Let’s not forget that not long ago Microsoft decided to recall more than 230,000 units of Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, after receiving reports that the AC/DC power supply may overheat and release smoke.
