British singer Amy Winehouse was in her London home Monday when she fainted; luckily, her manager’s assistant was there to help. She was taken to hospital “as a precaution,” according to media reports.
Monday afternoon was an eventful period for the 24-year-old singer as she fainted in her London home and was taken to hospital for tests. Her spokeswoman said Winehouse had been “doing admin” when she felt unwell and that she “quickly recovered,” reports the BBC.
Winehouse would have fallen to the ground had her manager’s assistant not been there to catch her. Her father Mitch took her to hospital “as a precaution,” the spokeswoman added.
Winehouse received some sort of treatment and then stayed at the London Clinic for observation. The cause of her swoon has not been determined yet.
It does appear though that it had been a tiring day for the frail-looking songstress, as she had been signing autographs for Canadian fans who had been waiting outside her house all day, her spokeswoman said.
This is hardly the first time Winehouse has seen the inside of a hospital. The condition of her health has long been a concern for family, friends and fans.
A few years ago she lost a significant amount of weight, appearing much lighter and thin. There was also a time, not long ago, when the British singer spoke freely about her alcohol consumption habits and even appeared intoxicated in public, for interviews or concerts.
While hearing Winehouse say that she is a “nasty drunk” or that she hits husband Blake Fielder-Civil when she’s had a few drinks may have once been amusing, the substance abuse stories soon took a different spin, as things got out of control for the singer.
Winehouse cancelled a string of concerts last year, both in Europe and North America, due to poor health, checked in and out of rehab facilities and has even been investigated by the police after a video showing her use drugs was sent to a British paper.
