A spokeswoman for University
College Hospital,
where the singer spent the night, said she was ushered out via a private exit
shortly after 9.45am Tuesday morning.
She was wheeled out of her apartment wrapped in a blanket
and receiving oxygen. Her father Mitch
was by her side all the time. He is
generally very concerned about his daughter’s condition and he’s trying to make
people understand that by offering her a cigarette they are seriously injuring
her. "She has a small amount of emphysema in the top of her lungs. It's
negligible, but it could lead to something a lot more serious," he said.
“Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home
this evening and was taken to hospital,” her spokesman Chris Goodman added in a
statement.
The recent imprisonment of her husband Blake Fielder-Civil
caused obvious stress to the singer who started ignoring her health problems
once again. Fielder-Civil admitted to have beaten up James King, a pub manager
in 2006. He then offered him $400,000 to keep quiet about it.
Late last month Winehouse was hospitalized for 10 days, due
to “a chest infection” as described by her representative. At the time, it was
said she would be continuing treatment on an outpatient basis.
Apart from her health problems, she also had to deal with
the police earlier this year after a video showing her smoke crack cocaine was
published by a tabloid newspaper.
Amy Winehouse is famous for her easygoing way of life as
well. At the Grammy Awards in February
this year, she won awards in two of the three most prestigious categories, for
the writing and recording of the single “Rehab,” allegedly a song inspired by her
refusal to seek treatment for substance abuse.
According to Mitch, his daughter is most creative when her
life is a mess - and actually enjoys having people worry about her. "As a
child Amy was extremely high maintenance," he told Britain's Daily
Mail newspaper. "It's a shame, but that's the way she is."
