An obviously troubled Amy Winehouse turned aggressive on stage at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England. After a near-wonderful performance, the singer climbed down from the Pyramid stage and threw punches at a fan, The Associated Press reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the fan tried to grab Winehouse, but it isn’t clear if that was what provoked the quarrel.
However, that’s not all Winehouse did on Saturday night at. The singer spit her gum in the crowd after the scuffle with the fan, criticized Jay-Z and called Kanye West an unmentionable name.
"Jay-Z's got some front to come here with tunes you don't even remember," said the British known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including soul, jazz and R&B. She went on and told the crowd that they should be glad that West wasn’t there to perform because, as she put it, he's a "c---."
Despite her troubled actions, Winehouse was in fine voice. She sang "Tears Dry on Their Own," "Wake Up Alone" and "Back to Black." Earlier this week, Winehouse made a surprise two-song appearance at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday tribute in London's Hyde Park.
A festival spokesman said there would subsequently be no investigation. The 24-year-old British diva was defended by founder Michael Eavis who said she just turned a bit aggressive after the fan touched her. Eavis described Winehouse’s one-hour performance - her first full UK show for seven months - as a "triumph".
More than 75,000 people attended the show at the Pyramid Stage, a spokesman said. The source added that the fan actually tried to grab Winehouse by the hair.
However, the footage of the incident did not clearly show what caused the scuffle.
