Amy Winehouse has been singing about not going to rehab, no, no ,no, but according to recent media reports, she has just changed her mind about receiving professional help for her self-promoted alcohol use… and more.
Amy Winehouse has always liked playing the bad girl for the media. She has talked about her drinking in numerous interviews, calling herself a “nasty drunk” and even explaining her stick-thin figure by saying that all the boozing makes her forget about having breakfast, lunch and dinner.
British tabloids are now reporting though that the “Rehab” singer has taken it all a little too far, mixing various drugs with her alcohol. And she’s been having company: new hubby Blake Fielder-Civil.
It was only days ago that the tiny singer was admitted into hospital, allegedly due to severe exhaustion. After receiving urgent medical treatment, Amy reportedly told News of the World that the incident had been “terrifying.”
“I don’t know how to explain what happened. I don’t really know myself,” she said. “I couldn’t recognize myself. I was so out of control. It just happened. It shocked me. I’m sorry. I just don’t know what got into me. I never want to feel that way again.”
Recent British tabloid reports claim Winehouse and Blake-Civil have checked into rehab to receive help for something that has spun out of control. No, not severe exhaustion. Drug abuse.
The two are apparently going to the US for their rehabilitation program. The Daily Mirror reports their decision was spurred by the fact that both newlyweds’ fathers got into an argument over their children’s problems.
The 23-year-old singer and Blake married in mid-May, in Miami, Florida, surprising family and friends. The two had been together for several years and had recently reconciled after a 1-year break.
Amy seems to have been mixing the drinking and the singing quite ok these past few months, as she has been touring around the world. Among her recent concerts were performances at Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Virgin Music Festival in Baltimore.
