Amy Poehler Makes Touching SNL Exit

Two months after giving birth to a son, Amy Poehler marked her last appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" as a regular cast member with a goodbye speech.

The "Baby Mama" star, who had been with the show for the past eight seasons, announced early in the fall that she planned to leave SNL after the birth of her son Archie, but made a surprise return last week to take her place at the Weekend Update desk.

During Saturday's episode of the sketch show, Poehler officially announced it was her last performance and took a moment to thank everyone and say goodbye.

"This is my last show," said Poehler, stepping out of the character following her usual performance. "It has been an amazing experience to be here. Being able to do over 140 shows with my friends and my family has been a dream come true."

But before Poehler's heartfelt speech would get too emotional, Fred Armisen portraying New York Gov. David Paterson, who is legally blind, wandered in front of the cameras on the Weekend Update set, partially blocking Poehler and her co-host Seth Meyers.

"Anyway, I would like to say thank you to everybody. I love you and I will miss all of you so much," Poehler managed to say when she finally came into view again.

The actress, who joined the late-night comedy show in 2001, will not be saying goodbye to television. She is now set to devote her time to NBC’s upcoming "Office" spin-off, and will likely star in the new series.
