On Tuesday, the top 24 contestants were unveiled on American Idol. The two-hour edition of the show drew 29.9 million worshippers, according to Nielsen’s estimates, which is 2 million more than last week's installment but still short of the 31.2 million viewers attracted by last year's debut of “Hollywood Week.”
The group of 50 contestants was winnowed down to 24. The top 12 male contestants were revealed as Chikezie Eze, Danny Noriega (shag haircut, good voice), Jason Yeager, David Cook, David Hernandez, Luke Menard, Michael Johns (the talented, married Aussie dude), Jason Castro, Robbie Carrico, Colton Berry and David Archuleta.
The top 12 female contestants are Kristy Lee Cook (the one who missed out on Hollywood because of visa problems), Amanda Overmyer (the rock chick), Alexandrea Lushington, Joanne Borgella, Brooke White (the skinny chick), Syesha Mercado (a cute top 12 contender), Alaina Whitaker, Asia’H Epperson (the gal whose dad died one day before her audition), Amy Davis, Kady Malloy, Carly Smithson, Ramiele Malubay.
Who are you planning on voting for? If in doubt, always check with votefortheworst.com, their pick is always, well, the worst. Who will be this year's Sanjaya Malakar? They haven't decided yet, it seems.
It was announced this month that Disney Parks and Resorts are set to create a new attraction for wannabe pop stars based on the "American Idol" phenomenon at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The "Idol" attraction, which is expected to open later this year, will be a high-energy Disney show allowing singers to experience the excitement of auditioning on stage in front of judges.
