The mother of three missing children was found dead in her
Northwest Side home in Chicago on Monday.
The woman, identified as Sophia Garcia, was discovered with
a bag over her head in the 1700 block of North Harding Avenue, officials said.
The cause and date of her death have not yet been determined.
News Affairs Officer Jo Ann Taylor said family members who
had not heard anything from Garcia alerted the police.
The three missing children, according to the Amber Alert
issued Monday, are Oscar Casanova, 6; Karla Casanova, 7; and Fernando Casanova,
11.
Oscar is 4 feet tall and weighs 60 pounds, with dark brown
hair and eyes. Karla is 4-foot-1 and weighs 75 pounds, with brown hair and
brown eyes. Fernando is 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds, with brown hair and
brown eyes. All three kids are described as white Hispanic in the alert.
They were last seen after finishing classes at Yates Elementary
School, 1839 N. Richmond St., at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
Police is also searching for the father of two of the
children, Benito O. Casanova, 32, who police believe picked up the children
from school.
Casanova may drive a 2002 silver or gray Dodge Dakota,
police informed. It has an Illinois license plate, 86196HB, with one plate
missing.
