Although the Polish driver of BMW-Sauber surprised everyone
after being the fastest driver in first free practice session, McLaren-Mercedes
drivers has won the first and third places in the second session.
The Polish driver needed one minute 22.390 seconds for the
4.384 km course, beating Massa
and Raikkonen into second and third place.
But in the second practice session, Fernando Alonso, who won
the European Grand Prix in Germany
two weeks ago, managed the fastest time with one minute 20.919 seconds.
Behind him, Heikki Kovalainen was slower with only .364
seconds. Lewis Hamilton, Alonso’s team-mate and the current leader of the
championship, Lewis Hamilton, ended the session prematurely after slipping off
the track, but even in this situation he managed to achieve the third place.
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, have had a
disappointing session as they were sixth and seventh-fastest drivers.
The second Renault of Giancarlo Fisichella was followed by
the Toyotas of Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher sandwiching Kubica, with the
top 11 all within a second of one another.
David Coulthard was 14th for Red Bull Racing, with Anthony
Davidson 15th in his Super Aguri and Jenson Button – at the scene of his one
and only victory a year ago – down in 16th for Honda.
Sunday’s race at Hungaroring is very important for Fernando Alonso
as he is only two points behind his younger team-mate, Hamilton.
