The 35-year-old US illusionist David Blaine has successfully completed his latest death defying stunt by completing a 44-foot plunge after hanging upside down for 60 hours, 50 feet above the skating rink in New York City's Central Park.
Nevertheless, Blaine’s Dive Of Death stunt exposed him to a great deal of danger. Everyone feared that his head may pop off, or that his lungs may explode or even that he may suffer from a heart attack. But this didn’t happen. However the artist began dangling from a wire on Monday. He kept smiling while describing the "enormous push of blood" that had him rather worried.
"What was really quite remarkable was that his eyes, in the first hour or two, were incredibly swollen and red, and as the time went on, his eyes returned to normal," Blaine's personal physician, Dr. Ronald Ruden said. "His ability to adapt is really almost superhuman."
But his stunt, which was supposed to have him hanging for 60 hours, disappointed many watchers who also saw him standing upright on a cherry picker, drinking water and relieving himself during frequent breaks. So his staying without food or water or peeing for more than two days was not quite the case for him. Blaine was suspended from a four-storey high metal frame, but was frequently only a few feet from the ground as he spoke to fans face to face.
After his 44 foot jump while attached to a wire, he was then pulled back up in the air and disappeared into the night sky.
