Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert Take over “American Idol”

Wednesday night, “American Idol” judges needed almost a whole hour to decide which contestant to place among the top twelve, Allison Iraheta having been one of the lucky singers to impress the jury with her performance of Heart’s „Alone.”

Another singer who got the jury’s approval was Adam Lambert, 27, who ended the Wednesday edition with a rendition of „Satisfaction,” which drove the audience and the judges into a craze.

Paula Abdul told the contestant that he had made it look that he had no longer been on the show’s stage, but performing at his own concert, while Randy Jackson compared Lambert with „Twilight” star Robert Pattinson, among other celebrities.

Nevertheless, a clear-headed Simon Cowell told Adam that his performance had been both brilliant and excruciating, adding though that he was confident that the singer would improve his skills.

Simon also gave a pat on the back to Megan Joy Corkrey, 23, despite the fact that he found her rendition of Corinne Bailey Rae’s „Put Your Records On” a bit shaky.

Still, Kara DioGuardi told Megan that with the right song, she could become a breakout artist.

Among the contestants that were dismissed Wednesday night were Jesse Langseth, 25, and Mishavonna Henson, 18, Simon having told the former that his „Bette Davis Eyes” had been „too cool for school,” as the judge put it, while Randy told the latter singer that she needed to sound younger.

Moreover, Jasmine Murray, 17, was also one to leave the four-judge panel unimpressed with her version of Sara Bareilles' „Love Song,” which the jury considered a poor choice, whereas Matt Giraud, 23, performed rather badly through Coldplay’s „Viva La Vida,” which Simon Cowell deemed as having been horrible.

In addition, Jeanine Vailes’ take on Maroon 5's „This Love” did nothing but gain her praise for her long legs, while Kris Allen, 23, bombed with his cover of Michael Jackson’s „Man in the Mirror.”

The judges’ favorite, Matt Breitzke, 28-year-old, left the jury cold this time with a rendition of Tonic's „If You Could Only See,” which Simon Cowell called boring and rather uncomfortable.

Next Tuesday, the final group of twelve contestants is scheduled to perform on the show, while on March 5, “American Idol” singers will be competing in the wild-card round.

On a related topic, a media squabble has recently started between the two female judges on the show, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi, when the former said that she did not think that four judges had been a good idea.

In her turn, Kara stated that she had been disappointed by her colleague’s comments, adding that she had been hurt that Paula had not voiced her opinions to her directly.

In an interview with OK, Paula Abdul said that she got along very well with Kara, but that she did not believe that a fourth judge had helped “American Idol,” because it slowed down the pace of the show since the judges needed much time to express their opinions about the singers.
