Allen’s Turn to Lead Celtics: 33 points and Winning 3pointer in OT

The Big Three members are seemingly taking turns in leading the Boston Celtics to victory. Kevin Garnet led the way a few days ago as he recorded 22 points, 20 rebounds and five assists against the Washington Wizards. Paul Pierce has been leading this team for the last couple of seasons, so now it was Ray Allen’s turn.

The All Star veteran didn’t let Boston down and scored 33 points in the Celtics' 98-95 win over the host Toronto Raptors yesterday. Most of those points came from long range shots and it was a three-pointer with less than three seconds to play in OT that the Celtics needed to win it. Of course, they turned to long range expert Ray Allen and he delivered big time.

Toronto tied the score at 95 with a three pointer from T.J. Ford with 4.4 seconds left in OT. Then the ball was in-bounded by Pierce, Allen controlled it after coming off a screen from K.G. and hit the winning shot. The Raptors should have known better. Allen buried many teams like that and is well-known as a clutch shooter.

"That was the play we drew up, for Ray to come off," Pierce said. "We had second and third options but the first option was open."

"A lot has been said about this team, what's going to happen at the end of games, who's going to take that shot," Allen said. "It's a joy to be out there offensively and for the coach to be able to draw up a play and there are three options."

K.G. finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds to record his second double-double in just as may games. Paul Pierce scored 13 points, after he had finished with 28 against the Wizards.

T.J. Ford led Toronto with 32 points and Chris Bosh had 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Celtics head coach wasn’t on the bench for this game. Doc Rivers had to leave town immediately after finding out that his father had died. He left for Chicago where he will attend the burial ceremony and his assistant Tom Thibodeau took over.
