It wouldn’t be the first time a star said goodbye to the
series that made him or her famous. And it would not come as a surprise if
Miley Cyrus made no exception.
However, the teen icon and Disney Channel tried to bring
down rumors on Monday regarding Miley’s planned departure from the television
hit series “Hannah Montana.”
A Disney spokeswoman for the show, Patti McTeague, informed
Reuters that reports claiming the star’s leaving were “absolutely not true,
pure gossip.”
The 15-year-old pop singer and actress said that she had no
intention of leaving “Hannah Montana,” Disney’s most popular series with 6-11
year-olds.
“I am fully committed to ‘Hannah Montana,’” Miley Cyrus
reportedly told PEOPLE.
The buzz started off as a result of reports on celebrity Web
site TMZ.com that said Miley wanted to get fired and, thus, came late on set,
halted production and annoyed other cast and crew members. In addition to this,
TMZ explained that Miley Cyrus planned to concentrate more on her singing
career rather than on her acting performances.
Miley’s “Hannah Montana” character is both an ordinary
schoolgirl and a pop singer, while ex country sensation Billy Ray Cyrus,
Miley’s real life dad, is also her father in the series. And Miley seems
grateful for that.
“It’s what gave me this amazing opportunity to reach out to
so many people,” Miley Cyrus told PEOPLE. “I couldn’t do it alone. We have an
amazing cast that is so supportive, including my dad who has been there for me
every step of the way.”
In July, the 15-year-old star told E! News that this might
actually be the final season of “Hannah Montana,” explaining that she has been
part of the show since she was 11 and that it wasn’t easy at all, as they
filmed “two seasons in one last year.”
