Barack Obama seems to be the man of the moment, as he is
everywhere and all eyes are on him.
On the same night his campaign ad drew huge audiences for
broadcast networks, the Democratic presidential candidate’s appearance on “The Daily
Show” via satellite boosted ratings for the program hosted by Jon Stewart, luring an
estimated 3.6 million viewers, the Comedy Central show’s biggest audience ever.
In addition, Wednesday night represented the first time the show reached 3
million viewers.
The last viewership record for “The Daily Show” was
established some three weeks ago by Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, who
was Jon Stewart’s guest for the night. The presidential contender’s spouse drew
2.9 million viewers on October 8, when she made an appearance on the false
newscast.
And Barack Obama did not stop here. In spite of the fact
that he did not take part in “The Colbert Report,” the Comedy Central program’s
audiences were also boosted by the Democratic presidential candidate, as the
show’s host, Stephen Colbert, made public his support for the Illinois senator during Wednesday night’s
episode. Thus, 2.4 million people tuned in for the show, marking a new audience
record for “The Colbert Report” as well.
What’s more, Barack Obama’s much talked about campaign ad
was the most watched program in U.S. prime time on Wednesday, as an estimated
33.6 million people listened to the presidential candidate’s political message.
In the meantime, Barack Obama’s Republican opponent, John
McCain, who made an appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” lured approximately
2.3 million viewers, an impressive increase compared to last Wednesday’s
results for the show.
Just four days before the election, candidates seem to do
everything they can to make voters take their side. We’ll have to wait just a
bit longer to find out whose moves were the most productive.
