Alicia Keys fans will be a bit disappointed by this news. The eleven-time Grammy Award winner said she plans to take a break from music as she prepares for the release of new motion picture "The Secret Life of Bees."
When asked by the New York Daily News reporters if she had been working on her album, Alicia Keys – real name Alicia J. Augello-Cook – said bluntly:
"No, I need a break, dammit."
"The Secret Life of Bees" is scheduled to hit theatres on Friday. The movie revolves around a 14-year-old teen called Lily (Dakota Fanning) who runs away from her home with her caregiver to a South Carolina town to find out the secret about her mother’s past. Alicia Keys stars as one of the three beekeeping sisters who take in the little girl who is searching for her mother’s secret.
Meanwhile, the completion and launch of Alicia Keys’ album triple platinum 2007 album, “As I Am,” was postponed. Ms. Keys said she fell in love with the story of the movie and felt like she knew the people in that book.
There’s no secret, however, about the 27-year-old singer’s personal life. In an interview with the Chicago Sun Times, the singer/actress acknowledged how hard it is for a person as “rich, famous and multitalented” as she is to find a partner.
"I think it's hard to find a great person no matter what you do, honestly," she says. "You know, being famous doesn't make it any less hard,” she said.
