“As I Am”, the latest music album released by R&B singer
Alicia Keys, is again number one in the music charts with 61,000 copies sold in
the past week. Overall, her album has sold nearly 3 million copies since its
early November release and will probably continue to fare well following her
performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
“A I Am” has switched places with the “Juno” soundtrack,
that has dropped to the second place with 55,000 units sold, a 15 percent slip
form the previous week.
With 54,000 albums sold, the Mars Volta has earned the third
place with "The Bedlam in Goliath".
Bullet For My Valentine’s "Scream Aim Fire" has started directly at number 4 with 53,000
units sold. It was followed by the "2008 Grammy Nominees" compilation
CD with 50,000 units.
Despite the success of the movie, “Hannah Montana 2: Nonstop
Dance Party”, an album with remixes of the original soundtrack, sold 40,000
copies to open at number seven for the week. However, it scored better than
"Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" that debuted at
number 10. Mary J. Blige's "Growing Pains" has slipped at number six
with 47,000 units.
Rounding up the top tier are Keyshia Cole's "Just Like
You" at number eight, Taylor Swift's
self-titled debut at number nine.
Overall sales were up 4 percent from last week, but are
nevertheless down 18.9 percent from the same week of 2007.
