In what it is considered a premiere in the history of James Bond movies franchise, Alicia Keys and the White Stripes' Jack White have recorded the theme song of “Quantum of Solace.”
The song, entitled "Another Way To Die", is a premiere because it is the first duet in James Bond movies soundtrack history. The song was written and produced by the White Stripes' Jack White and he also plays the drums. “Quantum Of Solace” is scheduled to be released in November, but the song "Another Way To Die" will be launched October 28 by Keys' J Records label.
Jack White, whose real name is John Anthony Gillis, started his musical career by working with different underground bands from Detroit. In 1997 he and Meg White appeared for the first time on the public scene as The White Stripes.
The White Stripes quickly became a successful band and in 2003 Jack White was already named the 17th greatest guitarist of all times by the “Rolling Stone” magazine.
Alicia Keys has sold over 25 million albums worldwide as of 2007. The R&B musician and film actress has won numerous awards, including eleven Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and fourteen NAACP Image Awards.
As previously announced the action of “Quantum Of Solace” will pick up right after the end of the previous Bond movie, “Casino Royale”. Indeed, the trailer starts with Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogating Mr White (Jesper Christensen) in order to find out who killed Vesper.
The title of the 22nd installment of the Bond franchise comes from an Ian Fleming short story in the “For Your Eyes Only” collection published in 1960, which previously inspired titles for the 1981 film starring Roger Moore and 1987's “The Living Daylights,” starring Timothy Dalton.
Bond girl Camille, portrayed by the Ukrainian model Olga Kurylenko will lead Bond to Dominic Greene (portrayed by Mathieu Amalric), member of a mysterious organization and a ruthless businessman, seeking to control huge natural resources. “Quantum of Solace” is directed by Marc Forster for Columbia Pictures and MGM.
Earlier this year there were reports that the British soul singer Amy Winehouse, who supposedly started working on a possible music theme for the upcoming "James Bond" movie, ditched the project since she is "not ready to record any music". Leona Lewis was also considered as vocalist for the “Quantum Of Solace” theme.
