Madrid - According to the daily El Pais, twelve African immigrants struggling in precarious conditions in Spain decided to pose nude for a calendar; the money raised will help them survive for a while, until they manage to find a job.

The men from Mali, Togo, Senegal and Mauritania appear in discreet pictures taken by Valencia photographer Adolfo Lopez in the calendar unofficially sponsored by an immigrant support organization.

Lopez said he tried to take elegant pictures to reflect the dignity of migrants.

"Without clothes, we are all equal," said 32-year Mady Fofana from Mali, one of the models.

Housewives, firefighters, police officers and other ordinary people have previously posed in scanty clothing for calendars seeking to raise funds or to publicize problems.
