RedOctane’s and Activision’s Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is out
for all the band’s fans and also rock enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, the game could have used a different approach,
as most of its 40 songs are taken from the band’s early days, and when I say
early days, I’m not referring to the 90s, but the 70s. For some of the people
from the younger generations, this might lead to a difficulty in connecting
with the band, as there are very few songs from the band’s last 10 years of
activity.
Of course, it will be greatly appreciated by the band’s fans
and it indeed delivers a good “rocking” feeling but the experience with such
games is always better when you get to play a song you know rather than
learning a new one. Amongst the songs present in the game, many might know Sweet
Emotion, Dream On, Walk This Way and Love in an Elevator.
One of the game’s main assets is its extremely appealing
graphics, which are very similar to Guitar Hero 3’s and manage to exceptionally
capture the band’s motion.
The game includes several video clips with the band’s
members talking about their yearly days and their rise to the current global
popularity. The six stages are set in several key locations for the band, which
include the New Jersey high school where they had their first gig, the Super
Bowl and of course the Hall of Fame.
There are several rumors about the company’s plans to expand
the game’s focus to other bands, such as Metallica and The Beatles.
