On Tuesday, Adobe announced the new editions of its still & video editing applications, Photoshop Elements 7 and Premier Elements 7, and also talked about the upcoming release of its first ever Windows Mobile application (the beta version) for a selected lot of devices.
The application will be usable with Photoshop Express (soon to be known as Photoshop.com), Adobe's current image editing service.
The fee plan goes like this: a basic version with a 5GB storage space will be made available free of charge; Elements and Premiere will be $100 each, if purchased separately, and $150 when bought together.
Once it is launched, the Photoshop.com app will only be accessible by those who own one of the following handsets: Motorola Q9 Music and Q9 Global; Samsung's Blackjack I and II and some smartphones included in the Treo 700 series. Probably anticipating some customer frustration, Adobe said owners of the iPhone, BlackBerry Pearl, Motorola Razr, Nokia 5310 or Nokia 6301 will be able to use Shozu for getting their images onto Photoshop.com.
Photoshop Elements 7 brings several easily usable features for modifying amateur photos, including Scene Cleaner (it removes any unwanted objects or persons in the image) and Smart Brush (it improves lighting and texture). Premiere Elements 7 will be a very useful tool for amateur moviemakers, who can now be much more efficient with their editing.
