Adobe Releases Three CS4 Betas

Adobe Systems Inc. has released today beta versions for three of its upcoming applications in its next Creative Suite series. The company released public beta of new versions of Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Fireworks and Adobe Soundbooth, version CS4 (Creative Suite 4). They can be downloaded on its Adobe Labs website and will work for only 48 hours for those who do not have Creative Suite 3 installed. Licensed users of CS3 will be able to use these three CS4 betas indefinitely, until the final versions eventually come out.

“This early release software gives our loyal customers a taste of the radical workflow enhancements that we have in store, as we redefine how designers and developers collaborate to deliver stand-out digital experiences,” said David Burkett, vice president of product management for Adobe Creative Suite, the company's statement today.

Adobe Dreamweaver is the company's easy to use yet powerful web development software. The CS4 version includes a new Related Files Toolbar and Code Navigator feature that allows users to dive deeply into complex pages that include HTML files, links to JavaScript documents and integrated XML data, Adobe said.

Adobe Fireworks is the company's tool for creating and optimizing images for the web, as well as designing web templates. As with all Adobe products, it integrates seamlessly with other web development tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Flash. The CS4 version brings about the ability to export design comps as high fidelity, interactive, and secure Adobe PDF documents for enhanced client communication, among other new features.

Adobe Soundbooth is an easy to use tool which is a simplified and more automated audio editing tool than Adobe Audition. It features a task-based interface provides the tools necessary to quickly accomplish everyday audio tasks without sacrificing top-quality results or creative control. The new CS4 version introduces for the first time multiple track support which allows users to edit multiple audio clips on a number of tracks, a feature previously available only in Audition, as well as other enhancements.
