Hollywood actor Owen Wilson was rushed to the hospital Sunday, after reportedly attempting to take his own life.
The 38-year-old actor was taken to the hospital Sunday in Los Angeles, after an emergency call was made.
TMZ reports that Santa Monica Police issued a statement to the celebrity gossip website, saying: “On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street.”
The National Enquirer informs that Owen was found by a family member who called for an ambulance. The actor had slit his left wrist after taking an unknown amount of pills. He is reportedly being treated at St. John's Health Center.
He received treatment for his wrist at the hospital, and after being stabilized, was then transferred to be “detoxed,” according to the Enquirer.
No official statement has come from Owen’s camp. It has not been confirmed that he tried to take his own life.
People magazine reports on its websites that Owen’s brothers, Luke and Andrew Wilson, as well as his parents, were seen Sunday evening at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
The magazine was also among the first to have inside information on Owen and actress Kate Hudson’s relationship. They had reportedly been together since at least before Christmas of 2006 when they split around Memorial Day weekend.
A source told the magazine that they remained friends.
The two actors met on the set of 2006’s “You, Me and Dupree,” a romantic comedy they starred in along with Matt Dillon.
Owen Wilson was currently filming “Tropic Thunder,” a comedy directed by actor and friend Ben Stiller.
The two have worked together before: “Meet the Parents,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” "Zoolander” and “Night at the Museum” are just a few of the projects they have collaborated on.
Owen Wilson received an Academy Award nomination for his work on the screenplay for “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
