Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car crash Sunday evening and is hospitalized in a Memphis facility, more people confirmed.
The actor was driving in his car north of Ruleville, Tennessee, when he got involved in a car accident at around 11:30 p.m., Sunday evening. Even though the actor was able to talk when the medics arrived, he had to be airlifted to the Memphis Regional Medical Center, which is a teaching facility that serves a 150 miles area around Memphis.
According to the Associated Press, both hospital officials, and Ashley Norris, the manager of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, which is owned by the actor, have confirmed that Freeman is under medical attention at the facility.
Reports show that a woman was in the actor's car when the accident took place, but neither her name, nor her condition have been made public.
Morgan Freeman is supposed to play Nelson Mandela in the upcoming 'The Human Factor' film. The actor rose to prominence thanks to his roles in movies like 'Se7en,' 'The Shawshank Redemption' or 'Million Dollar Baby.' The last of them brought the actor an Oscar for best supporting actor.
Morgan Freeman, aged 71, was born in Memphis Tennessee. He now lives at a 126-acre ranch near Charleston, Mississippi, together with Myrna, his wife.
Despite his incredible career, he was first cast in a movie in 1975, and worked as a mechanic for the US Air Force until then. This summer, the actor played in two important movies: 'Wanted,' and the box-office behemoth 'The Dark Knight.'
